Staying at Nichoir
Our aim is that your stay is as relaxing and interesting as possible. If you join us for a night or two, then we hope you will have the chance to take in the house and garden, have a swim in the pool and perhaps a game of boules, and find out about what the region has to offer; and perhaps join us for an evening meal.
If you are staying with us for a longer time, we can offer you a variety of information on things to do - we have a small library for this in the living room, with an IT area providing a range of information, and WiFi to link up any devices you may have brought with you. We also have a tablet that you can borrow if you go out for the day, with tourist information already prepared on it.
Arrival and Departures
Usually arrivals are from 4.00pm and we will be here to greet you and show you your room(s) and the layout of the house and gardens. There will be tea and cold drinks in the garden or living room if you would like them, so you can relax and unwind - and if you are arriving a bit later, then join us for a glass of wine or an aperitif. If you are going to be earlier than 4.00pm or perhaps later in the evening, just let us know if you can. We realise that people will want to leave at various times - it is helpful for us if you can leave on your last day by 11.00am. If you need a really early start, then just let us know and we will try to ensure you have breakfast in good time.
Food and wine
Breakfast is from 8.00 - 10.30am and served in the living/dining room and can be taken in the outside summer dining area if you wish. We provide a buffet-style breakfast, with a range of fresh juices, cereals, yoghurts, and fresh and preserved fruits. There is fresh bakery produce and home-made and local jams and honeys. We are happy to provide a cooked breakfast on request. We can of course provide for special dietary requirements if we are given reasonable notice.
In the spirit of Chambres D'Hotes we are very pleased to offer guests an evening meal. Our produce is all locally sourced and where possible our vegetables, fruit and herbs are from the garden The wines we serve are from Gaillac, Tarn and Marcillac vineyards. A typical meal might be:
Salad with warm goats cheese and walnut and beetroot dressing
Averyron smoked trout with horseradish and cucumber raita
Tagine of lamb, with garden vegetables and saffron potatoes
Cheeseboard of local cheeses
Baked peaches with creme vanille
Evening meals are 25 euros inclusive of wine. We always offer a vegetarian options.
For guests staying with us more than one night, we realise that people may not always wish to go out for lunch every day - so, we will be happy to prepare a simple picnic lunch for you to take. Similarly, if you have eaten out for lunch, you may not wish to eat out again for supper or have a full supper at 'Nichoir' - in this case, we can provide something light for your supper, like an omelette or soup and cheese. Just give us some notice if you can.
Again, if you're staying for more than one night, and are spending time at 'Nichoir' during the day, then you'll find there is always coffee, tea and cold drinks available in the sitting/dining room.
