Staying at Nichoir
Our aim is that your stay is as relaxing and interesting as possible. If you join us for a night or two, then we hope you will have the chance to take in the house and garden, have a swim in the pool and perhaps a game of boules, and find out about what the region has to offer; and perhaps join us for an evening meal.
If you are staying with us for a longer time, we can offer you a variety of information on things to do - we have a small library for this in the living room, with an IT area providing a range of information, and we have a fibre-optic Internet link providing superfast broadband.
Arrival and Departures
Usually arrivals are from 4.00pm and we will be here to greet you and show you your room(s) and the layout of the house and gardens. There will be tea and cold drinks in the garden or living room if you would like them, so you can relax and unwind - and if you are arriving a bit later, then join us for a glass of wine or an aperitif. If you are going to be earlier than 4.00pm or perhaps later in the evening, just let us know if you can. We realise that people will want to leave at various times - it is helpful for us if you can leave on your last day by 11.00am. If you need a really early start, then just let us know and we will try to ensure you have breakfast in good time.
Food and wine
Breakfast is from 8.00 - 10.30am and served in the living/dining room and can be taken in the outside summer dining area if you wish. We provide a buffet-style breakfast, with a range of fresh juices, cereals, yoghurts, and fresh and preserved fruits. There is fresh bakery produce, including home-made bread, and local jams and honeys. We can provide a cooked breakfast on request and of course provide for special dietary requirements if we are given reasonable notice.
In the spirit of Chambres D'Hotes we are very pleased to offer guests an evening meal. Guest staying in the Garden Studio on a 'gîte basis' can book to have breakfasts or an evening meal if they would like to. Our produce is all locally sourced and where possible our vegetables, fruit and herbs are from the garden The wines we serve are from Gaillac, Tarn and Marcillac vineyards. So that you can choose to have a light or fuller evening meal (you may have had a large lunch!), we offer three courses and you can choose to have one, two or three courses. A typical menu choice might be:
Asparagus soup with herb croutons
Breast of duck in a cherry and red wine sauce, potato gratin
and saute of courgettes and baby spinach
Baked peaches in nectarine sauce, with homemade meringue
We always offer a vegetarian option - and providing something simpler for younger children is no problem.
Prices are as follows, and include wine and coffee/tea:
Entree: 7.50 euros
Main Course: 12.50 euros
Dessert: 5.00 euros
Note: children of 12 and over are charged at adult rates as above. Children of 5 years to 11 years are charged at a flat rate of 10 euros, with children of 2 to 4 years are charged at a flat rate of 7.50 euros, and babies under 2 years are free.
In summer, for guests staying with us more than one night, we realise that people may not always wish to go out for lunch every day - so, we will be happy to prepare a simple picnic lunch for you to take, or eat by the pool in the shaded pergola.
Again, if you're staying for more than one night, and are spending time at 'Nichoir' during the day, then you'll find there is always coffee, tea and cold drinks available in the sitting/dining room.
Our meat and fish products are all locally sourced. Vegetables are either home-grown, or from the organic vegetable co-operative nearby.
