Well, we have been doing Isaac and his/her companion a gross disservice - they are not 'common smooth newts' but 'marbled newts' ... that sounds much better and is also a far more accurate description of their appearance. We've only learned this because our good friend Simon Roper of Ambios Limited sent us an email identifying what they actually were. If you would like to find out more about marbled newts, then the www.arkive.org site is a good place to start. Oh, by the way, we have a name for our second newt - it's 'Woolsthorpe' ... a suggestion from a Miss Sally Mander - thanks, Sally.

AuthorSimon lives at Nichoir, Le Bruel, with his wife Noella. They moved here in May 2013, with their Newfoundland dog, Oska, and their cat, Snufkin. Together they have set out on an adventure to create what they hope will be home from home for family and a rather special Chambres D'Hotes for guests. Categories
