SuomiWell, the Forms notifying the Tresor Public have now been lodged, stating that we have finished the work that we sought permission for 15 months ago - so, it must be true!
The work on the bookcases and IT area worktop have been completed - as we said in the previous Post this has meant taking the 'bois brut' - the rough-cut red cedar - and sanding that down to a semi-smooth finish and then designing the layout for the bookshelves and for the worktop that will take the IT hardware for the wildlife information and provide access to the Internet for tourist information:

We have decided to do some basic decorative work on the woodwork, just to soften the appearance overall:
The lesson that we have learned all along in this Project, that it is often the 'finishing work' that takes the time - in this case, additional fine sanding, filling and painting and matt varnishing - has remained true; so, the 6 days work on making and fitting the bookshelves and worktop has been followed by 10 days finishing work. But we are very pleased with the results: it has provided bookshelves in the guest sitting/dining room, with space for around 500 books and a really good worktop space for the screens and computers that link to our wildlife monitoring systems and provide direct access to all the tourist and information websites for the region:
Phase 1 has achieved a considerable transformation to the overall house, providing a more balanced layout of the the ground-floor and creating guest accommodation that is separate, but not divided from the main house. We have already received some very positive comments from guests and we hope that will continue to help us in our thinking on how we develop the next Phase - the special accommodation for people with disabilities. Our ability to proceed with this depends on raising finance from the sale of our small holiday house in the Aude.
